10. To + a verb is an aspect of wordiness, also known as redundancy or tautology:

In a night of contests, I show my hand, but miss the announcement of winners. Something’s amiss. Deliverymen appear at the door—hurtling the bodies across. Their skins (ornamented like Christmas) wreck the moment of pleasure. In the mix-up, I put my hands on a tongue-twister. (To track a bushy tail as if nothing can happen.) Its hiss muffles the finale.
