I wrote my 1st poem when I was 12 for my mom's 42nd birthday.
It sucked. Then when I was 14, my boyfriend moved away & I began writing
bad diary entries broken into lines. They also sucked. It took 10
years of doggerel before I wrote something that might not put a reader
to sleep. Now I write regularly (hey, no dozing off!) & more of my
